Friday 13 December 2019 Bermagui River

For the first time in awhile we had the pleasure of G's company today. We arranged to meet at bridge boat ramp at 9.30am for a 9.50am start.  For once we took to the water ahead of schedule and after R helped me to change the footrests on Dani we were off up the river at 9.48am

A very gray day today and quite chilly

The 'go fast' boats soon left G and I far behind

The clarity of the water was terrific and it was a delight to spot the odd skate on the bottom and the odd fish flick away from the boat.

G is our feature kayaker today - mainly because the others left us so far behind. Going past the flooded mangrove forest - it looked very inviting.

On the way up the river we spotted Ibis, a sea eagle and a couple of kingfishers. We reached our usual morning tea site to find the two winter residents had packed up and departed, leaving the site much cleaner than they found it.

After the usual chatter, banter and polly character dissection and assassination we returned to the water to paddle back on the now outgoing tide.

This pic gives you some idea of how clear the water is, but how parched the bush is.

We arrived back at the Bermi bridge just before 1.00pm. By the time we had loaded the boats the outgoing tide was really wooshing.

We followed up the paddle with a delicious lunch at Octopi.
