On our way home (23/7) after two nights in Canberra, celebrating G's birthday, via Tomerong to view and purchase the latest edition to L's fleet. Stopped at Ulladulla for a fag break. It's a long, lean sucker!
It wasn't until the 1 August that we got a chance to try it out. S&V were, once again, away in the pursuit of culture and had kindly suggested we launch from the privacy of their boatshed. Two problems quickly became apparent. a) getting into the kayak - which I kindly didn't photograph,
and b) once underway
L discovered the rudder was jammed. However this didn't stop him from powering across Little Cuttagee and up the straight
We paddled up the straight and found there was now enough water to cross between Snake Island and the bridge. After mucking around for awhile on the far side of the bridge we paddled back entranced by the light play on the bed of the lake.
All up L was chuffed with his latest purchase.
You may, like me, ask why a sea kayak, and an enclosed one at that. So far, there has been no concrete answer from the man who had previously only advocated sit on kayaks for people of our age and ability!
On our return to the boatshed, exiting the kayak proved even more problematic than the entry and new, less wet making methods need to be found :)
