Took L awhile to get going - foot pegs out of whack. Another stop at the caravan for him to fix them.
Yet another stop at the island to try and fix those pesky pegs again.
The first remount method. Using the strap, the paddle and paddle float
It Worked
Second Method. Get back into boat whilst its upside down and use the bow of your paddling pal to pull yourself upright. Only part two was tried
Success. Part two works. Part one yet to be tried.
We moved to deeper water so L could try Method One while treading water.
He rolled in and after extracting himself from Precious whilst upside down, he discovered the strap didn't float and had sunk. After an extensive search we gave up looking and while I waited for him to set himself up for Method Three (involving the paddle and paddle float) I took a pic and had a fag.
No pics of Method Three as I was doing my best to stabilize his boat. Method Three was made up of sliding one end of the paddle under the deck straps behind the cockpit, the other end encased in the float and then whilst keeping a firm grip on the boat, employ a mixture of pole climbing and slithering up the paddle to get out of the water far enough to get one leg down the cockpit.
Exhausting, but successful. Then it was back to the island to readjust those pesky pegs AGAIN.
Another pic and a fag
Before heading home
Through a light drizzle and although L couldn't get any wetter and was crabby re losing the strap, he was very chuffed with himself. As he should be.
After 2 3/4 on the water we stopped in at S&V's for a well deserved coffee, on L's behalf at least and spent a very pleasant hour drip drying on their deck.
