By 8.15am we were boarding our boats
and heading off down river
Coming to our first bend
Old and failed bank retaining efforts
L checking out a campsite on the far side of the river
At 9.10am we spotted this little beach and pulled in for a leg stretch
Heading off again at 9.22am
Paddling off after a loo stop at the campground opposite the mouth of the Buckenbowra River
Stopped for morning tea at 10.35, ignoring the sign
Departing our lunch spot at 11.23am
(Euw yuk, I just felt something crawling across my forehead and brushed it off and an adult paralysis tick landed on my mouse pad :( :( )
On the last leg down between some oyster beds and lots of oyster sheds
Sorting the days harvest in progress
The traffic is stopped as the centre span is raised for the tour boat
Islands in the distance at the mouth of the Clyde
By 11.55am our paddle was over
A pelican makes a stately progress upstream while we wait for the car shufflers to return
We got there about 1.30pm and today our experience was not so good. Unlike our last visit we were not made very welcome and it was made clear that they had been hoping to close early. When it came to coffee the waitress informed us she couldn't work the machine!
So a further stop was needed for a coffee (and icecream for some) at Bodalla.
And lastly the after affects of an early rise, a 3 and 3/4 hour paddle, and a big lunch and an even bigger icecream!
Trip Notes:
High Tide at Nelligen: 7.45am 1.62m
Good tidal assist for the last third of the paddle
Put In: Nelligen Boat Ramp
Take Out: South Boat Ramp, Clyde Street, Bateman's Bay (soon to be closed due to new bridge build)
13kms
3 3/4hours
