By 9.30 we were taking to the water like a flock of ducks
We'll be paddling up this way later
But first
We'll head to the beach for our first stop
What's that that A is pointing at?
Aah, a kangaroo
The sight of a pod of dolphins swimming past greeted us as we reached the sea
A goanna track makes an interesting piece of artwork
Bournda Beach
Back on the lagoon once more, L see's how far he can go
A trio of cygnets
We paddled back down the lagoon and head up the creek
A short detour up a side arm
Remnants of a rainforest gully at the end of the arm
Retracing our steps
Continuing up the creek
What's up there? Shall we?
Yes, let's
Returning to the creek
When L and I caught up to the others we found them discussing morning tea. V & L whipped us on for another few hundred metres until our route was impaired by some drooping trees beside a convenient pebbly beach. While the rest of the group disembarked
I bravely pushed on, negotiating the drooping tree and found clear water on the other side
However it wasn't long before I reached the end of the line and had to turn around and paddle back to the others and get my share of the morning tea
After a very pleasant 40min break we took to the water once more, and while S&V and L headed upstream to see how far I got, the rest of us began our paddle back , this time into the wind.
A few hundred metres from our put in point R and L swapped boats. L nearly sunk R's little slapper and wallowed the rest of the way back while R sat high and dry in 'Dani', tho she did have an extremely close encounter with a semi submerged shrub as she learnt that 'Dani', unlike her slapper can't spin on a dime. After the exhausting task of wheeling our boats back up the hill from the lagoon and loading and tying them down, we enjoyed a quick lunch at the picnic area before going our separate ways just after 1.00pm
4 1/2 kms
