We didn't do too badly considering the awkardness of the entry point and were on the water by 8.30.
The way ahead looked inviting
However before we had gone very far G discovered his rudder was broken so it was back to the steep and slippery put in point for some running repairs.
These having failed G&L had to haul the hobie back up bank to effect a partial fix.
Meanwhile the rest of us floated and chattered.
Reflections
at 9.10 we were underway at last, with G's rudder partially working - he could turn to the right!
Not long after getting underway it started to drizzle, and by 9.45 it was raining and we were soon all soaked to the skin.
Eventually the rain eased back to a drizzle
And then stopped
But by then we were wet and cold
And L wouldn't let us stop
Until we had warmed up a bit. So we paddled doggedly on, past some reed beds
And through more bush starting to look for a somewhere to get out.
until finally at the point where the creek bends back upon itself we found a spot at the end of some houses we where could pull out. Those of us who had some dry clothes to put on did so and we settled down to refuel. We were back on the water by 11.50am with approx 4.5kms left to paddle
Moored boats - we were nearing the end of our paddle
Round one last bend
Heading toward out exit point at Woollamia Boat Ramp
Looking further downstream than we were going
We ended our paddle at 12.45pm
While G, L & S went to retrieve the cars R, V &I unpacked the boats and carried them up to the car park and availed ourselves of the fish cleaning facilities to wash paddles and wetboots. R was keen to give her lovely new boat a wash out but had to content herself by giving it a sponge bath instead.
