We did a quick shop for some essentials and then had a quick look at the Ashmoloean Museum before walking to Plantation Rd to Diana and Tony's abode. We are nearly there.
We had a fabulous reunion with them. Tony, a jewelry designer and maker had just finished an exhibition and we were given a tour of his workshop, which Lawrence especially, thoroughly enjoyed and I thoroughly enjoyed looking at the remaining exhibition pieces. Unfortunately all subtle and then blatant hints were ignored by my hero.
Diana very kindly printed off some paperwork for me to sign, that Roger had sent me, and the scanned it and emailed back to him. It was something I had been wondering how to get done for the past few days. We then toddled off to lunch. Diana and Tony live in what is roughly equivalent to Paddington in Sydney and the are heaps of little pubs and great looking restaurants within a few minutes walk of their house. We went to one of their favourite pubs and had a lovely lunch, lots of chat and family news catch up.
We will continue the conversation tomorrow when they are coming to join us at what is, temporarily, our local, The Jolly Boatman at Thrupp.
Lawrence and I then walked back into town and returned to the Ashmolean Museum and spent the rest of the afternoon there until we were museumed out and staggered back to the bus stop to come home to nb Aqualife.
The next few photos are of a boat whose owner we call Mr Bling, for obvious reasons. He has moored up today while we were in Oxford. We first came upon him at Market Harborough, but I couldn't get a photo as he was moored in amongst other boats. Then we moored up near him at Welford Arm and I took a couple of pics as we went by, but the didn't do the bling justice. We haven't seen any sign of a Mrs Bling, tho there may be one hidden away inside somewhere, cemented to a polishing rag. And Mr Bling is one of those few boat owners who does his very best to ignore the existence of hire boats. So this afternoon, just as it started to rain on me again - every time we walked anywhere today we got rained on. We would start out in sunshine, it would cloud over and down it would come, then the sun would reappear. But that's beside the point. Back to the bling boat, I took another couple of photos, but unfortunately the boat is not displaying all it's finery this afternoon, but combined with the shots from near Welford Arm you will get the general idea.
My guess is an Albatross but that seems too obvious so I'm not confidant. George says I have to sign off in my name since all comments to date have been from me not him, AND, even tho he thinks it's an Albatross he doesn't want you to think it's his guess in case it's wrong! Rhonda x
