At Oakmeadow Ford Lock the canal joined the River Churnett for awhile, and it was lovely
Going past/under Consall railway station
And further along
Cherry Eye Bridge, Bridge 53
And this is as far as we could go - the winding hole before Frognall Tunnell, AL being too high and wide to go through
We turned around, had a quick meeting and decided that we would all prefer to moor in the 'wilderness' rather than in the hustle and bustle of Froghall (population 2 men and a dog). Turn made we left the delights of Frighall behind.
And headed back the way we had come
We found a very peaceful mooring just after Cherry Eye Bridge in Booths Wood with the River Churnett burbling away - yes we could hear it - below us. Tied up snuggly, with the heater on we tucked into some tea and scones, jam and clotted arteries cream. Thank you Jean, the cream will probably kill us, but they are delicious.
9 miles, 8 locks in 6 hrs
