Saturday 8/10. Bugsworth Basin pt1

The rally was going full steam this morning when I went to the pub to send pt1 of yesterday's blog using their free wifi - not quite free, I had to buy two coffees, it took so long. Then it was time to meet the taxi for our trip to Lyme Park, a NT stately near Disley.  We found out today we could have walked there from the Macclesfield Canal along a public footpath running from the towpath between High La e and Higher Poynton, through some fields and into the park of Lyme Park.

Quiz Question

Who came cantering through the park, dismounted at the top of the rise, strode down to the waters edge, shedding clothes as they went, and dove into the water and swam across the lake?

Lyme Park belonged to the Legh family for 600 odd years. It was handed over to the National Trust, along with approx 400ha of park and farmland.
No pics inside, too dark. But the house gardens were magnificent
